Straight from the SEQUEL to my fanfic! :P

Robin has been gone an awful long time, recovering from the events of the first story (Revenge of the Joker: [link]). The Teen Titans (who're being aided by Kid Flash in Robin's absence) respond to a call, and, well... let's just quote from the book, shall we??

"On the floor of the alleyway laid a large pile of broken Sladebots, electrical charges zapping around them like lightning from their short-circuited forms. Beast Boy changed back to normal and came up level with them, crossing his arms.

“Damnit, Kid Flash. Can’t you ever leave any of the fun for us?”

Kid Flash turned to look at them with his sky blue eyes. “I didn’t do this,” he said, a whimsical smile toying his lips.

“But, if you did not do it,” asked Starfire, “Then… who?”

Kid Flash winked, and looked upwards. The others craned their necks back as well, looking up to the rooftop above.

“Four minutes and twenty-one seconds” called a voice. A face appeared over the edges of one of the rooftops, smiling bright as it peered down at them through a black mask. Messy black hair slicked back with hair gel, a green gloved hand holding out a stopwatch. His black and yellow cape whipped around him as he stared down at them all.

“Don’t tell me your response time has seriously gotten this slow in my absence!”

A stunned silence enveloped all of them as they stared, mouths agape, up at the boy above them. No one spoke, or even moved, as though a strange spell had frozen them all to the spot.

“ROBIN!!!” "

:D!!!

In other news, my usual schpeil about my drawing technique, cuz it changes from picture to picture!!

In this one, Robin was done on a single layer, while the background was done across three (for the foreground building Robin is standing on, the buildings in the back, and last one for the sky, minus the stars). I started with a quick blue sketch of the pose I was going for for Robin, then started a new layer to get the lineart, and kinda against my better judgement, began coloring in that same layer, and found out that it was really REALLY fun doing Robin on one layer, and I actually found it much easier to edit stuff. I dunno. I guess my painting class has helped me up far more than I could ever have expected :P

As usual, Photoshop CS3 with my tablet. Throw in my Teen Titans Season 3 DVD pretty much on loop (I seriously have seen X and Haunted about 30 times each since owning this DVD, no fricken lie) and a few reference photos, and ya got this!! I think, overall, it took me 7 hours...

THat would TOTALLY be Robin.:D I think I will go read your fic now...sounds interesting.

How do you do "painting" looks in photoshop? I swear I've tried all the brushes and tried to invent some of my own, but it never seems to work.......

Well, painting on a canvas with paintbrushes kinda helps you figure it out. I pretty much use just the basic brushes (round, as solid as it goes, not any of the feathered soft ones). I use alot of hotkeys, changing opacity on the brush quite frequently. I also change colors alot, and use the eyedropper tool VERY frequently. (If you color something, then use a darker color over some of it with say 30% opacity, then eyedrop that color, and color a bit more with more 30% opacity, you can create a pretty awesome gradients. If you're in brush mode, and hit alt, the eyedropper is right there. Pretty sweet!) I also recently began incorporating the "color" window, moving the sliders just ever so slightly to get a different color. And then, I just paint. I don't try to be perfect, cuz the little zig-zags and strokes that you see is what shows that it was painted by human hands...

Although that's just talking about Robin. To get the background similar to that in the show, I used some "grunge" brushes I found online on the buildings (had them forever, don't know where I got them). I tend to never use any brushes outside the first one, but I needed to to get the proper look...

And alot of it was patience and lots and lots of layers (on the same layer... make sense??) I totally spent an hour or two just on his pants (and not because I like looking at them...I mean, what, hi!)

Wow, that was a long lecture... Man, I've been an art major far too long XD

And totally, please! Read my fic! I promise it is very, very good. And let me know what you think of it!

And I'm commenting on my own picture. However ego-filled it sounds, I want to! I am CRAZY amazed at this picture! It feels like I wasn't the one who did it, but I totally WAS! It's just... surreal and awesome!!

Good Job, Melly-pants!! ^_^ I knew this sort of awesomeness was in you! Like the Force, it is!

If I can tell by the small incerpt you placed here, I'm sure your fic will be awesome. Since I have an accont on FF.net, I'll probably be logged on when I do comment..so I'm "Somewhere In Time" over there.:) Just so you know.

Dude, I totally KNOW!! It kinda feels like it came straight from a screen shot or something, doesn't it?! But it totally DIDN'T!!! Even his stance wasn't from any reference shot! And dude, I don't know how many times I redid the arm of the stopwatch hand!! Finally had to get my mirror to get it right (okay, so I had ONE reference on his pose ;) )
